Excelsior Gig Nov. 4th

The Excelsior Jazz Band will be playing Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at the Victoria & Albert Pub II, 1921 Lawrence Ave. W. (just1 block east of Pharmacy, south side), from 7-10 p.m.

The Excelsior Jazz Band is a traditional jazz band playing in the Dixieland/New Orleans style. Our repertoire is comprised of several hundred selections, including blues, spirituals, marches, show, and novelty numbers.

Most of our work has been regular engagements in clubs, including a 14-year run at the Delta Chelsea Inn in Toronto on Saturday afternoons. Our band has been featured many times at Harbourfront and the Toronto Jazz Festival. The CBC recorded one of our gigs for a national broadcast. We have also recorded two television shows for the series "Peter Appleyard Presents" that was sold to networks worldwide.

We have played at birthday parties, retirement parties, weddings, and many other special occasions, including the third anniversary party of the Phantom of the Opera. We also play in pubs, branches of the Royal Canadian Legion, and numerous jazz festivals.

Currently, we are playing every Sunday at the Rex Jazz & Blues Bar, located in The Rex Hotel, in downtown Toronto.
